Fair Trade is well known for their authentic 19th C. bell jar hall lanterns. These ceiling lights were originally used with candles or whale oil and the smoke bell from which the bell jar lantern suspends, kept the flame from scorching the ceiling. They can be used as originally designed, or we can have them electrified by suspending a 3-part candelabra cluster into the interior of the bell-shaped, melon-shaped or globe-shaped lamps. Many of these chandelier-type fixtures come in a variety of etchings or unetched; a variety of colored lamps such as cranberry, cobalt, emerald, amethyst, etc. are also available. These are all 19th C., hand-blown with wheel-cut etchings and hand-formed brass hardware.
