Lighting Fair Trade specializes in antique hall lamps originally used during the late 19th Century English Regency and American Federal periods. These hanging glass hall lanterns or bell jars were often brought to many of the British Colonies by the English gentry. In India, for example, they are often referred to as hundies. Classic and elegant as chandeliers, they are perfect in a foyer or stairway, used as multiples along a hallway or veranda, or paired up over a dining table or kitchen island. During the same time period, hand-blown hurricane shades and shields were also used to illuminate a room with candlelight. The hurricane shades were sometimes used as wall sconces as well as multi-arm chandeliers. We have a large collection of hurrican shades along with custom-made brass sconce arms for you to choose from. Over the years, Fair Trade has discovered amazing artisans who work in a number of different materials. The collection of pairs of table lamps in bone, horn, wood, brass and glass are exceptional as well as unusual. Another specialty of Fair Trade is early 1900’s Holophane lead crystal shades. Used on brass or nickel pendants or table lamp bases, these fine crystal shades offer an elegant choice for your lighting needs.
